MEDIATE ANNOUNCES NEW STAFF AND BOARD MEMBERS
07 Mar 2016, by News inMEDIATE Art Group is pleased to announce the addition of new staff and board members in 2016. We are very excited to welcome these experienced and talented art innovators to the MEDIATE team!
Autumn Hays joins us this year as our new Managing Director. She brings a wealth of experience in performance art exhibition and festival management.
Autumn is an Artist, Curator, and Arts Administrator whose focus is on immersive and embodied artforms. Her interests surround the ideas of confronting otherization, personal narrative as a radical act of providing alternative histories, and the affective language of art. Previously Autumn worked with many art organizations including as Curatorial Assistant at Defibrillator Art Gallery, the Coordinating Director of Rapid Pulse International Performance Art Festival, and Producer of 2014 IMPACT Festival. She received her MFA in Visual Arts with emphasis on Performance at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and her BA in Visual Arts and Art History from the University of California San Diego.
“I’m very excited to be joining MEDIATE “, says Autumn. “I’m attracted to their focus on invoking sound and performance art into alternative spaces. I look forward to working with an organization that is such a strong force in Bay Area art, and engaging their diversely accomplished staff and board.”
“MEDIATE is so fortunate to work with Autumn”, says MEDIATE Founder and Executive Director Alan So. “Her expertise in festival management and strong commitment to inspire audiences with provocative and innovative arts will help lead MEDIATE into its next chapter.”
Email Autumn ([email protected]) to welcome her and offer any ideas for cultivating partnerships, sponsorships and collaborations in support of our Bay Area arts programming.
Instigator Suki O’Kane is the latest member to join our Board of Directors. As a leading figure in the Bay Area arts and cultural network for over two decades, Suki brings a wealth of knowledge to help build MEDIATE’s organizational capacity and support our non-profit’s growth and sustainability.
Suki is an Oakland-based musician, composer, public artist and intermedia curator. Since 1996 she has been developing temporary public art projects that emphasize the fleeting, and catalyze personal transformations in unexpected places. Her work has focused on the transformation of civic spaces with the ephemeral tools of light and sound, organized as collaborative, improvisational practice. As a composer and performer, she is a student of durational forms. Currently Suki is the Director of Administration at the Walter & Elise Haas Fund and Board Treasurer at Artists’ Television Access.
Additionally we would like to thank our outgoing Managing Director Catherine Nueva Espana for her hard work, dedication and professionalism (and good humor) the past two years. Catherine was instrumental in leading our organization at a time of transition and we thank her for her countless contributions that are felt to this day.
And many thanks to our departing board members Sarah Holcomb and Jeff Ray who will continue to support MEDIATE as special advisors. Each of them have been driving forces at MEDIATE and their brilliant insights, unforgettable support and dynamic contributions will be felt ever-presently.
